On Labour Day, Gus Par Urges Workers to Collaborate in Developing Karangasem
The commemoration of International Labour Day (May Day) in Karangasem Regency was combined with a car-free day (CFD) event at Taman Jagat Karana on Jalan Raya Veteran. The activity served as a platform to strengthen synergy between the local government, entrepreneurs, and labour unions in Karangasem.
Regent of Karangasem I Gusti Putu Parwata (Gus Par) expressed appreciation for all labour elements and unions that have contributed to maintaining stability and supporting regional development. According to him, the presence of workers plays a crucial role in the economy.
“The role of workers is very strategic as one of the pillars driving the wheel of the regional economy,” said Gus Par in his statement on Sunday (3/5/2026).
Gus Par urged all workers in the area to continue synergising with the local government. According to him, collaboration is needed to realise better development in Karangasem.
“We very much hope that the welfare of workers continues to improve along with the growth of the regional economy,” said Gus Par.
The Karangasem Regency Government (Pemkab), he stated, is committed to presenting policies that favour the protection and welfare of workers. “The government will continue to open spaces for dialogue and collaboration so that workers’ rights are fulfilled fairly,” he added.
Chairman of the Karangasem Regency Labour Day Committee, I Nyoman Oka Antara, thanked the Karangasem Regency Government for facilitating this year’s Labour Day commemoration. The event was also combined with the distribution of dozens of essential goods packages to worker representatives, particularly sanitation officers.
“We express our thanks for the support provided, so that the May Day event could take place well. This is proof of the harmonious synergy between the government, entrepreneurs, and workers,” said Oka Antara, who is also the Chairman of Apindo Karangasem.
