Jakarta (ANTARA) - In welcoming the commemoration of Kartini Day, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka underscored the importance of strengthening cross-sector collaboration to drive women’s empowerment with broad and sustainable impact.

This was conveyed by Gibran during an audience with representatives of Perempuan Indonesia Maju (PIM) at the Vice Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday.

As per information received by ANTARA in Jakarta on Thursday, the meeting reaffirmed the government’s commitment under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto as an effort to bolster the strategic role of women in inclusive and equitable national development.

In the audience, the Vice President emphasised that synergy between the government and civil society organisations is key to expanding the reach and effectiveness of women’s empowerment programmes.

Gibran also urged that various ongoing initiatives be well integrated, particularly in strategic sectors such as education, economy, and health.

This support was positively received by PIM as a reinforcement of the organisation’s steps in consolidating the women’s movement, both at national and international levels.

PIM General Chair Lana T. Koentjoro stated that the Vice President supports the programmes organised by PIM, which cover areas including health, education, economy, socio-cultural, tourism, and the environment.

“Well, these programmes are very supportive for us to also socialise to the community. Then, the Vice President directed coordination and collaboration for preparations on what can be collaborated,” said Lana.

“It was also conveyed to the Vice President that we will hold a National Forum and also a national working meeting for two days, and he strongly supports this activity because from us ourselves,” she added.

In line with the momentum of Kartini Day, PIM is also preparing various activities that are not merely ceremonial but also encourage active participation of women in public spaces and development.

“On Sunday, the 19th, we will hold a kebaya fun walk with Kowani and other women’s organisations. And going forward, we will continue to push so that Indonesia will have even more Kartinis for the future, making Indonesia more advanced,” Lana concluded.
