The presence of women in leadership ranks is considered to provide a broader perspective in the organisational decision-making process. Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk maintains a balanced workforce composition with 36,000 female employees, equivalent to 43% of the total 86,000 workforce, in line with equality values amid the momentum of Kartini Day. According to the company, this composition makes BRI a conducive and inclusive work environment for women to develop and optimise their best potential. “The presence of women in leadership ranks is considered to provide a broader perspective in the organisational decision-making process. This also strengthens the company’s efforts in creating a more diverse and inclusive work culture,” said BRI President Director Hery Gunardi in his statement in Jakarta on Tuesday. To date, the company notes that 25.63% of BRI’s female employees have occupied managerial positions, from junior manager to top management levels. To strengthen the capacity of female leaders, BRI has introduced the BRILiaN Women Leaders Indonesia (BWLI) programme as a platform for leadership development for women within the company. Through BWLI, female employees receive intensive leadership skills development, expand professional networks, and enhance employee branding to become future leaders, both within and outside the company. Hery added that this commitment is also reflected in the presence of employees with disabilities in the company. The placement of women with disabilities in the work environment reflects the company’s commitment to opening fair access to employment opportunities for all parties. “Thus, women, including those with disabilities, still have equal opportunities to develop, contribute, and achieve economic independence,” said Hery. The spirit of equality is not only realised by BRI in the internal work environment but also extended through various community empowerment programmes, one of which is through the Ultra Micro Ecosystem. BRI states that this initiative, pioneered together with PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) and PT Pegadaian, opens wider access for women to develop economically. To date, the Ultra Micro holding has reached around 23 million customers spread across various regions in Indonesia. Through this ecosystem, women not only gain access to financing but also business mentoring, financial literacy, and access to various integrated financial services that encourage them to advance. “With this holistic approach, BRI seeks to ensure that women have equal opportunities to enhance business capacity, strengthen family economic resilience, and contribute more broadly to driving inclusive and sustainable people’s economic growth,” Hery concluded.
