On JK's Request to Show Diploma, PSI Executive: Jokowi and I Laughed

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The daily chairman of the DPP of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Bestari Barus, met with the 7th President, Joko Widodo, in Solo. During the meeting, he claimed to have discussed many things with Jokowi, including the matter of Jusuf Kalla’s request to show the diploma.

“Yes, we discussed politics, thin-thin diplomas, other matters. So I think like this, that today there are several things that have emerged to the public regarding a statement from Mr Yusuf Kalla, who requested that this is easy, please Mr Jokowi to show his diploma,” he said when met by media personnel on Monday (13/4/2026).

He admitted to having laughed together with Jokowi while discussing the request to show the diploma, as desired by the 10th and 12th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia.

Bestari instead challenged Jusuf Kalla back to display his diploma and marriage certificate in front of the public.

“Well, the two of us laughed earlier, even almost bursting out laughing. Now, if Mr JK wants to show his diploma, or his marriage certificate to the public, or other documents that he thinks are easy to open from the cupboard, please do so. Please show them,” he stated.
