On Jakarta's 499th Anniversary, Legislator Hopes Capital Becomes Safer and More Prosperous

Deputy Speaker of the Jakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD DKI Jakarta) Basri Baco commemorated the 499th Anniversary of DKI Jakarta with the hope that the capital will continue to develop into a safer, more comfortable city capable of improving public welfare. He also expressed hope that various issues still faced by residents can be further reduced in the future, particularly regarding neighbourhood security. “May Jakarta become increasingly safe and comfortable for all residents. Let there be no more cases of mugging or robbery that disturb the community,” said Basri in a statement on Monday. Beyond the security aspect, he also hopes that access to education will become more open for all levels of society. One such initiative is the free private school programme, which he believes needs to be continuously expanded so that more children in Jakarta can obtain a quality education without being constrained by costs. “Job opportunities must increase so that the community has a wider chance to improve their standard of living,” Baco stated. Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of improving health services. Baco hopes that the quality of health services for Jakarta residents will continue to improve and become more easily accessible to the entire community. Additionally, on the occasion of DKI Jakarta’s 499th anniversary, which falls today, Monday, he invited all elements of society to jointly maintain unity and support the city’s development. “May these good hopes for Jakarta be realised. May Jakarta become more advanced, safe, and its people more prosperous,” said Baco.
