On Jakarta Parking Tariff Hike, Pramono: I Have Not Decided

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has not yet decided whether parking tariffs in Jakarta will be increased. The decision is still pending discussion of a proposed revision to parking tariffs currently underway in the DPRD DKI Jakarta.

Pramono said the DPRD DKI Jakarta has proposed a revision of parking tariffs through the Special Committee (Pansus) on Parking. However, as of Saturday (22/8/2026), he stressed that he had not yet made a decision regarding the proposal.

“So there has been a proposal to revise parking tariffs. Honestly, I can say that as of today I have not decided,” Pramono said when met in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta, as quoted by detikNews, Sunday (23/8/2026).

According to Pramono, the authority to set parking tariff increases lies with the governor. On the other hand, the DPRD DKI Jakarta’s Pansus on Parking is still discussing various options for tariff changes.

“Because the decision to raise parking tariffs is the authority of the Governor. Although, as you all know, the DPRD of DKI Jakarta Province also has a Pansus on Parking. Several proposals have been submitted,” he said.

Pramono acknowledged that parking tariffs in Jakarta have not been adjusted for a long time. “And indeed, in Jakarta, it has been almost 14 years since parking tariffs have been raised or adjusted. But I have not decided as of today,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the DPRD DKI Jakarta’s Pansus on Parking, Ahmad Lukman Jupiter, said one proposal is the implementation of a zoning system. Areas with high economic value such as SCBD, Menteng, Senayan, and several areas in South Jakarta could potentially be subject to higher tariffs, with a threshold of up to Rp60,000 for cars.

“So a zoning system will be created. For example, the SCBD area is considered to have high economic value. The Menteng area, then areas like Bandung Indah, then areas in South Jakarta, Senayan. So the highest tariff threshold is up to Rp60,000,” Jupiter said.

However, Jupiter considers a tariff of up to Rp60,000 to be too burdensome for the public and not the right solution for increasing locally generated revenue (PAD). “So in my opinion, it is too burdensome for the public. Burdensome. It is unreasonable, nonsensical,” he said.

He believes there are still many sources of PAD that can be optimised without burdening the public. “Do not strangle the public in the current conditions,” he added.
