On Hajj Queues, Maman Imanul Asserts Ticket Auction Not a Solution

Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission VIII, Maman Imanul Haq, believes that the proposal to implement a ticket auction scheme in the organisation of the Hajj pilgrimage needs to be carefully examined. He assesses that a more important issue than the ticket auction controversy is the effort to accelerate the departure queue for pilgrims with special conditions, such as the elderly or those with high health risks. He believes that the policy to accelerate the queue could be a solution for pilgrims who cannot wait too long to perform the Hajj pilgrimage. “The issue is not just about ticket auctions, but how we can accelerate the queue for the elderly, for those at high risk, and for those who cannot wait too long,” he explained during a Working Meeting with the Minister of Hajj and Umrah of the Republic of Indonesia and a Hearing with the Head of the Hajj Financial Management Agency Executive Body at Nusantara II Building, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, 14 April 2026. Maman also believes that the scheme could be one breakthrough in addressing the lengthy Hajj departure waiting period in Indonesia, which in some regions reaches tens of years. “We do not want anyone to have to wait another 30 or 40 years to go on Hajj, until they wonder if they will still be alive when their turn comes,” he said. The PKB Faction politician stated that Commission VIII of the DPR RI has a strong commitment to supporting the success of this year’s 2026 Hajj organisation. He even mentioned that DPR members are ready to act as spokespersons in their respective electoral districts to ensure the public knows about the government’s readiness in organising the Hajj. “We have a commitment to make this Hajj a success. We are even ready to be spokespersons in our respective electoral districts to convey that there is no more systematic and ready preparation than this year’s Hajj preparation,” he said.
