On code of conduct
On code of conduct
From Media Indonesia
In Indonesia almost every profession has their own code of
conduct. Even the House of Representatives has its own. An
organization has a code of conduct to ensure that its members act
in an orderly, honest and polite manner.
Unfortunately, the speaker of our House of Representatives is
a defendant in an ongoing court trial. The governor of our
central bank is also a defendant, as is also one of the leaders
of our People's Consultative Assembly.
It seems that the present reform era allows a defendant to
lead this country. How ridiculous! In other countries, with a
more evolved civilization than ours, when a government official
is allegedly engaged in unlawful actions or if he assumes
responsibility for an accident claiming many lives, he or she
will immediately resign. This is a characteristic of a civilized
nation.
Now I have no way of knowing whether a country with a lot of
codes of conduct also has civilized people.
