On Children's Day, Minister Arifah Reaffirms Government's Commitment to Fulfilling Children's Rights

Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Arifah Fauzi has stated that the government continues to strive to ensure every Indonesian child obtains their rights to care, education, health, protection, and the opportunity to achieve their aspirations. ‘We want to make Indonesian children happy because you are all great children. President Prabowo Subianto loves Indonesian children very much and wants to ensure all children’s rights are fulfilled so they can grow into a healthy, intelligent, and empowered generation,’ said Minister Arifah Fauzi in Jakarta on Monday. She made the remarks while continuing the Jelajah Sahabat Perempuan dan Anak (SAPA) series at the Sakura Indonesia Al-Jama’an Foundation in Bogor, West Java, ahead of the 42nd National Children’s Day. She explained that the SAPA series is part of the government’s effort to be present among children by strengthening the fulfilment of children’s rights and cross-sector collaboration to create a safe, inclusive, and child-friendly environment. Minister Arifah Fauzi explained that the government’s commitment is realised through various programmes, such as the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme to meet children’s nutritional needs, Sekolah Rakyat to ensure every child has access to education, and free health check-up services to ensure children grow up healthy. According to her, the fulfilment of nutrition, education, and health is an important foundation for children to achieve a better future. On the occasion, she also listened to the aspirations of the foundation’s residents, including hopes to continue education and improve family welfare. Following up on this, the Minister requested her staff to coordinate with the local government and PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) to open access to economic empowerment for women through training, business mentoring, and financing so that families become more self-sufficient. ‘We want women here to be more empowered. We will connect with PNM so that mothers who want to do business can get training, mentoring, and access to capital according to the community’s needs. The hope is that next year, more women will be independent and able to improve their family’s welfare,’ said Minister Arifatul Choiri Fauzi.
