On 80th Bhayangkara Day, South Sumatra Police Chief Affirms Commitment to Safeguarding National Programmes

The South Sumatra Regional Police held a ceremony in Palembang to commemorate the 80th Bhayangkara Day. South Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Sandi Nugroho affirmed his commitment to supporting strategic national programmes. The ceremony was led by the Governor of South Sumatra as the Inspector of Ceremony, accompanied by Inspector General Sandi Nugroho. Also in attendance were members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum, high-ranking officials of the South Sumatra Police, elements of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, government agencies, community leaders, and various elements of South Sumatran society. Carrying the theme ‘80 Years of Service, the National Police for the Community’, the 80th Bhayangkara Day commemoration became a momentum to reinforce the transformation of the National Police into an institution that is increasingly professional, modern, humanist, and adaptive in addressing security challenges while supporting the acceleration of national development. In the mandate of the President of the Republic of Indonesia read by the Governor of South Sumatra, it was emphasised that the National Police has a strategic role in maintaining national stability amidst global geopolitical dynamics, the development of transnational crime, and increasingly complex security challenges. The National Police is also expected to continue strengthening synergy with all stakeholders in supporting national development. In line with this policy direction, the South Sumatra Police continues to optimise support for various government priority programmes, including the Free Nutritious Meal Programme through the construction of Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units, strengthening national food security through the optimisation of agricultural land and maize cultivation, securing National Strategic Projects, and strengthening public services based on digital transformation in accordance with the Precision Police concept. The ceremony also featured the awarding of the Bintang Bhayangkara Nararya Honour and the pinning of the Satyalancana Kesetiaan for 24 years, 16 years, and 8 years of service to police personnel deemed to have demonstrated dedication, loyalty, and unblemished service to the institution and the state. Furthermore, the success in maintaining a conducive security and public order situation in South Sumatra has contributed to improving the investment climate, protecting the industrial sector, ensuring smooth infrastructure development, and creating legal certainty that supports regional economic growth. South Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Sandi Nugroho stressed that all ranks of the South Sumatra Police are ready to safeguard every strategic government policy for the realisation of sustainable security and public welfare. ‘We ensure that all South Sumatra Police personnel are ready to safeguard strategic national programmes, from food security and industrial downstreaming to various development programmes that are government priorities. The National Police is present not only as a law enforcer but also as a strategic partner of the government and the community in maintaining stability, providing a sense of security, and supporting the nation’s progress,’ said Inspector General Sandi Nugroho in his address. Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations of the South Sumatra Police, Senior Commissioner Nandang Mu’min Wijaya, stated that the 80th Bhayangkara Day momentum strengthens the commitment of all South Sumatra Police ranks to continuously improve the quality of service to the community. ‘We are committed to presenting a National Police that is increasingly precise, professional, transparent, and responsive to the needs of the community. Through synergy with all stakeholders, the South Sumatra Police will continue to support government programmes, maintain security stability, and build public trust as the main capital to realise a safe, peaceful, and prosperous South Sumatra,’ said Senior Commissioner Nandang Mu’min Wijaya.
