The Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia has urged all government institutions to enhance the quality of public services through governance that is clean, professional, responsive, and free from maladministration. Deputy Chairman of the Ombudsman RI, Rahmadi Indra Tektona, made the statement during the International Public Service Day commemoration at the Ombudsman RI office in Jakarta on Tuesday. “We believe that improving public services cannot be done by one institution alone. Strong synergy between institutions is needed so that the benefits of services are truly felt by the public,” Rahmadi said. According to him, every government institution has a responsibility to ensure that services to the public run well. He assessed that good service quality will increase public satisfaction with various government programmes. Therefore, Rahmadi asked all government institutions to continuously pay attention to service quality so that it can run optimally. “The quality of public services must be maintained through governance that is clean, accountable, professional, responsive, and free from maladministration practices, in line with the spirit of the activities we are carrying out today,” he stated. He added that the Ombudsman, as a supervisory body, is ready to oversee the implementation of public services to prevent maladministration practices that could hinder services to the public. Rahmadi also invited all supervisory institutions to strengthen oversight of government agencies in order to realise quality public services. Through such cooperation, he hopes that all government institutions will share the same awareness regarding the importance of improving the quality of public services for the community.
