Ombudsman Suspects Jimmy Masrin is the Individual Who 'Fled' During Inspection of Cibinong Prison
Ombudsman RI member Syafrida Rasahan has spoken out regarding the individual seen running away during the Ombudsman’s visit to the ‘luxury cluster’ at the Cibonong Class II Prison. Syafrida suspects the person in question is the corruption convict Jimmy Masrin.
“Regarding Jimmy, we can confirm that is the suspicion, based on the information received,” Syafrida stated at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday (29/09/2026).
Syafrida noted that a photograph of Jimmy was also found within one of the rooms. Additionally, one of the Ombudsman’s officers reportedly encountered the individual.
“The photo exists, and they did indeed come face-to-face with one of our assistants,” she said.
However, for definitive confirmation, Syafrida requested that inquiries be directed to the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services (Imipas), as her office cannot provide absolute certainty at this stage.
“For now, that is the suspicion. For the final results, please consult the Imipas authorities,” she added.
In the video footage of the Ombudsman’s visit, an individual can be seen inside a house immediately closing a door. The Ombudsman’s officers appeared to attempt to pursue the person, but the door to the room was shut abruptly by the individual.
It is noted that the Indonesian Ombudsman recently uncovered luxury residential facilities during their visit to the Class II A Prison in Cibinong.
In relation to this matter, the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services has suspended five structural officials at the Cibinong Class IIA Prison. The suspended officials include the Head of the Prison (Kalapas), the Head of Prison Security (KPLP), the Head of the Coaching and Education Section (Kasibinadik), the Head of the Security and Order Section (Kasikamtib), and the Head of General Affairs.
The suspension of these five officials was announced by the Inspector General of the Ministry, Rudi Setiawan, at the site. Rudi inspected the Cibonong Prison after being ordered to lead the investigation by the Minister of Immigration and Correctional Services, Agus Andrianto.
“Acting on the direction and orders of the Minister, we are the internal investigators for the Ministry. He has instructed us to collaborate with the Directorate General of Corrections to follow up on the findings brought forward by our colleagues from the Ombudsman,” Rudi explained to journalists at the location on Saturday (26/09).
