Ombudsman Says West Java Is Also Facing Fuel Shortages; Pertamina Responds

BANDUNG — In addition to Bali and Batam, West Java is also reportedly experiencing fuel shortages. According to the Indonesian Ombudsman, West Java is among 10 provinces facing shortages of fuel (BBM).

Reno Fri Daryanto, Area Manager for Communication, Relations and CSR at PT Pertamina Patra Niaga’s West Java Regional unit, said the company was continuing to distribute fuel throughout Greater Bandung and along the Purbaleunyi Toll Road. “Congestion at some petrol stations in Purbaleunyi rest areas is situational, does not occur every day and has now eased. It is a normal fluctuation caused by increased consumption during peak hours,” he said in an official statement on Friday (16 October 2026).

He said Pertamina had coordinated with PT Jasa Marga to manage vehicles entering rest areas and had deployed marshals to speed up service. “We urge the public to buy fuel according to their needs. For service information, contact the 135 call centre or use MyPertamina,” he said.

Earlier, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga’s Jatimbalinus Regional unit said it was accelerating the recovery of fuel supplies in Bali. It is doing so by optimising distribution around the clock and prioritising deliveries to petrol stations.

Ahad Rahedi, Area Manager for Communication, Relations and CSR at the Jatimbalinus unit, said deliveries were being arranged based on the needs of each petrol station and conditions on the ground. The measures are expected to speed up the restoration of fuel services for the public.

“We are optimising deliveries based on the needs of each petrol station and maintaining continuous supplies 24 hours a day. With these measures, we hope fuel services for the public can be restored more quickly,” Ahad said in a written statement on Tuesday (13 October 2026).
