Ombudsman RI stresses KuPP ensures state presence fulfils citizens' rights
Although our mandates differ, I am confident that inter-agency collaboration has vast potential and must be continuously strengthened,” stated Rahmadi Indra Tektona, Deputy Chair of the Ombudsman RI (ORI), during a meeting in Jakarta on Wednesday. He explained that the six agencies under KuPP share a common commitment to strengthening citizen protection. These agencies include ORI, the National Commission on Violence Against Women (Komnas Perempuan), the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK), the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI), the National Commission on Disability (KND), and the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM).
Rahmadi highlighted that inter-agency synergy is crucial for improving the quality of protection and public services, particularly within the national mechanism for preventing torture. To reinforce this collaboration, ORI held a strategic meeting with KuPP members in Jakarta on Tuesday, 12 May, to discuss programmes for 2025-2026, during which ORI will coordinate KuPP. The initiatives include policy advocacy, internal and partner capacity building, joint monitoring and reporting, public education, and constructive dialogue.
The meeting was attended by ORI members Syafrida Rachmawati Rasahan and Abdul Ghoffar, ORI Secretary-General Suganda Pandapotan Pasaribu, Komnas Perempuan Chair Sondang Friska, LPSK Chair Achmadi, KPAI Commissioner Dian Sasmita, and KND Commissioners Fatimah Asri and Jonna Aman Damanik.
