Ombudsman RI Monitors Transportation Sector to Ensure Smooth Homecoming Period
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ombudsman RI (ORI) is conducting public service oversight of the transportation and logistics sector through monitoring the homecoming and return flows for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri/2026 CE.
Ombudsman RI member Hery Susanto, whilst monitoring Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang, Banten, on Thursday (12 March), stated that this oversight aims to ensure public services to the community during the homecoming and return periods run smoothly, optimally, and prevent potential maladministration.
“This activity aims to ensure the readiness of public services in the transportation sector, including aspects of safety, comfort, and smooth mobility of the public during the homecoming period,” said Hery, as quoted from a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He noted that the Eid homecoming period represents a time of very high public mobility. Therefore, the ORI ensures all public service providers can deliver optimal, safe, and comfortable services to the community.
Monitoring is being conducted by the Ombudsman RI together with all Ombudsman RI Regional Offices nationwide, with implementation running from 10 days before until 8 days after Eid. Monitoring focus covers various transportation services and supporting facilities at departure and arrival points for homecomers, such as airports, terminals, stations, and central homecoming hubs.
“And conducting direct observation of public satisfaction with the public services provided,” he added.
In addition to Soekarno-Hatta Airport, monitoring is also being conducted at several other transportation service points, including Plaza Keong Mas at the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah on 15 March 2026, Pulo Gebang Terminal (16 March 2026), the Senayan area, Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (GBK), and Pasar Senen Station (17 March 2026), as well as Kampung Rambutan Terminal (18 March 2026).
Coinciding with commemorating the Ombudsman RI’s 26th anniversary, the homecoming monitoring activity is also accompanied by social action in the form of free breaking-of-fast meal distribution to the public at several monitoring points. In addition, it also implements a Joint Prayer activity for National Safety and World Peace taking place on 13-14 March 2026 in Jakarta and West Java.
Through this series of activities, Hery hopes that all public service-providing institutions can continue to strengthen coordination and improve service quality to the public, so that the homecoming and return flows for Eid 2026 can proceed smoothly, safely, and comfortably for all homecomers.
The monitoring is being conducted as part of the Ombudsman RI’s duty and function to ensure excellent public services to the community.
