The Indonesian Ombudsman has proposed using the momentum of National Public Service Day (HPPN), scheduled for Friday (24/7), to encourage improvements in the quality of public services in the regions. Ombudsman member Syafrida Rasahan stated that public service issues occur not only in urban areas but also in rural villages. “The implementation of HPPN could be carried out in areas that have a mix of urban and rural characteristics. Regions with both urban and rural characteristics can be selected,” Syafrida said in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday. By selecting mixed urban and rural areas, she hopes that local governments or ministries and agencies present in those regions can be encouraged to provide maximum service. She said the implementation of HPPN, which is planned to be attended by President Prabowo Subianto, would also prove that the state is present for all regions of Indonesia. During a meeting to establish National Public Service Day held by the Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) in Jakarta on Thursday (2/7), Syafrida expressed a commitment to participate in the planning and execution of HPPN. “We can divide roles, the Ombudsman is ready to help,” she said. Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of PANRB Purwadi Arianto stated that public service is the true face of the government, and as times evolve, public expectations for public services are increasing. “We must continue to push the public service reporting platform so that the bureaucracy becomes more adaptive and increasingly oriented towards public satisfaction,” Purwadi said. According to Purwadi, KemenPANRB proposed the establishment of National Public Service Day as a national momentum to strengthen a culture of service throughout Indonesia. However, he stressed that National Public Service Day is not the end goal, as the aim is to build a service culture that continuously improves over time and is evaluated annually.
