Ombudsman Focuses on Internal Improvements and Oversight of Government Programmes

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman and member of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) Hery Susanto has affirmed that his team will soon close ranks to carry out the institution’s tasks, functions, and authority after the inauguration process.

Hery stated that the inauguration, which was delayed for approximately two months, had temporarily hindered the Ombudsman’s operations. With this inauguration, all members are ready to resume their mandate for supervising public services.

“We nine will soon close ranks to complete our tasks, functions, and authority that the public has been awaiting,” Hery said after the appointment of Ombudsman RI members for 2026-2031 at the State Palace in Jakarta on Friday.

According to Hery, the Ombudsman has so far been perceived as distant from the government. Therefore, they will strengthen synergy with various government priority programmes without abandoning their supervisory function.

“Because we are still seen as distant from the government, we will bring closer the programmes that are the government’s goals, namely Astacita, so that they can be implemented as best as possible. Thus, Ombudsman supervision is needed,” Hery said.

Therefore, the Ombudsman will provide assistance and supervision to ensure that these various programmes are truly felt by the public.

“These government programmes will be brought closer to the public, including being implemented as best as possible. Therefore, assistance from the Ombudsman is needed so that these good government programmes can reach the public,” Hery added.
