Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ethics Council of the Republic of Indonesia Ombudsman targets completing its decision on the inactive Ombudsman RI Chairman Hery Susanto, who is entangled in an alleged nickel corruption case, within 30 days.

Ethics Council member Jimly Asshiddiqie emphasised that the council’s decision will be binding, with finalisation to be carried out by the Ombudsman’s leadership.

“It will then be sent to the President as appropriate, accompanied by the ethics council’s recommendations,” said Jimly during a press conference in Jakarta on Friday.

He explained that the ethical decision will include various sanction options, with the most severe being dishonourable dismissal (PTDH).

The Ethics Council members consist of three external figures: Prof. Bagir Manan, Prof. Jimly Asshiddiqie, and Prof. Siti Zuhro, as well as two internal ORI members: Maneger Nasution and Partono Samino.

He revealed that the higher number of external members in the ethics council is intended to maintain independence, while ORI members are necessary because the issue concerns internal matters.

Consequently, he said, some examinations will be conducted in closed sessions, particularly those involving private “shameful” matters.
