Ombudsman: 2027 Budget to Support Oversight of Priority Programmes
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia (ORI) has stated that its budget priorities for 2027 are directed towards supporting the oversight of President Prabowo Subianto’s priority programmes.
“The Ombudsman ensures that the President’s priority programmes are implemented transparently and free from maladministration,” said the Vice Chairman of the Indonesian Ombudsman, Rahmadi Indra Tektona, in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Friday.
Regarding National Priority programmes, he noted that budget priorities are aimed at ensuring the effective execution of the Indonesian Ombudsman’s outputs. This includes resolving public reports at both central and regional levels, conducting Self-Initiated Investigation Reports (IAPS) regarding public service providers, performing thematic and selective IAPS specifically related to the President’s priority programmes, and providing oversight opinions on public service delivery within ministries, agencies, and local governments.
Regarding institutional priorities, the Indonesian Ombudsman is ensuring the achievement of activities related to the execution of the institution’s duties and performance functions.
Rahmadi stated that the implementation of these programmes includes strengthening public complaint access in various regions through collaboration with oversight bodies, including the House of Representatives (DPR RI).
Furthermore, efforts will include socialisation and dissemination, the opening of complaint booths, the absorption of public aspirations, and direct oversight of public service delivery.
Previously, Commission II of the DPR RI approved a proposed budget increase for the Indonesian Ombudsman for 2027 by Rp200 billion, raising the budget ceiling from Rp215.14 billion to Rp415.14 billion, during a hearing at the Parliament Building in Jakarta on Wednesday (16/9).
The budget allocation for the Indonesian Ombudsman will be used to support Management Support programmes amounting to Rp289.58 billion and the Oversight of Public Service Delivery amounting to Rp125.56 billion.
Commission II of the DPR RI has requested that the ORI, as a working partner, carefully consider the views, suggestions, and input from the leadership and members of Commission II regarding the implementation of the 2027 budget.
Previously, the Indonesian Ombudsman held a meeting of the Working Committee on Central Government Expenditure Policy (BPP) for the 2027 State Budget Bill (RUU APBN) with the Budget Committee of the DPR RI to present the proposal for the budget increase and convey the urgency of strengthening service oversight.
