Older Brother's Letter Reveals He Abandoned a Baby in a Nasi Uduk Cart in Pasar Minggu; Mother Died
An infant girl was found alive in a nasi uduk cart in front of a resident’s house on Jalan Pejaten Raya RT 010 RW 002, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta. The discovery was made on Tuesday (3 March 2026) at approximately 17:30 local time, after the sound of crying drew residents’ attention. In the cart, a witness named Dinda saw a black shopping bag. Inside the bag lay a baby girl, lying on her side, wearing a blue teddy bear-pattern onesie and wrapped in a baby blanket. Also found inside the shopping bag were infant formula, wet wipes, and baby gloves. A handwritten note on a white sheet of paper was also found. The infant is estimated to be two days old, based on the writing on the note, which was authored by someone named Zidan who is suspected of deliberately abandoning the baby at the scene, according to Pasar Minggu Police Chief Kompol Anggiat Sinambela on Wednesday (4 March 2026). The note is written by a person named Zidan (12), who claims to be the baby’s older brother. He states that the baby’s mother has died during childbirth. Terima kasih. Zidan 12 tahun. Adik saya lahir 2 Maret 2026, namanya Ameera Ramadhani.’ Police are investigating the abandonment case and have not released further details about potential suspects.
