Old woman burnt in fire

TANGERANG (JP): A 72-year-old woman was trapped and died in a fire which gutted her house on Jl. Kampung Gelam, Kutajaya village, Pasar Kemis here on Sunday night.

The victim, identified as Aminah, was trapped in the fire which started at 8 p.m. while her grandson Edi, 27, and his wife Sri Tugini, 25 managed to escape from the blaze.

The three were watching television when the fire occurred. Edi and Sri hurriedly left the house, leaving the elderly grandmother trapped in the fire.

Pasar Kemis Police Chief First Lt. Djoko Susilo said on Monday the fire also destroyed the family's television set, a motorcycle and a radio.

"The fire was probably caused by a short circuit," Djoko said. (41/jun)
