Old Manyar Bridge in Gresik to be Replaced, Completed in August
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works is undertaking the replacement of the Manyar Lama Bridge in Gresik Regency and aims to complete the work by August 2026. This step is being taken to improve the safety and reliability of the national road infrastructure. The bridge replacement follows a decline in the structural condition that could potentially affect the safety and comfort of road users. This handling serves as a preventive measure to ensure connectivity remains maintained on one of the strategic routes in East Java. “Road and bridge connectivity is the lifeblood of community life and the regional economy,” explained Dody in a press release on Wednesday (15/4/2026). The bridge replacement work has an effective length of around 80 metres and is funded through the 2026 State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) with a contract value of Rp 29.6 billion. The implementation period is planned for 210 calendar days with a maintenance period of 365 calendar days. The project is targeted to be completed and handed over in early September 2026, with maintenance until 30 August 2027. In line with the work implementation, the Manyar Lama Bridge has been fully closed to traffic since 1 April 2026 until 31 August 2026 to support the dismantling and complete replacement of the steel framework. The Ministry of Public Works urges road users to be cautious, adjust their speed, and comply with signs and instructions from on-site officers to maintain safety and smoothness during the project.
