Old iPhone XS Sells for IDR 34 Million at KPK Auction, Far Exceeding Original Price
A used iPhone XS auctioned by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in June 2026 fetched IDR 34 million, a figure dramatically higher than its auction limit price of IDR 231,000. The final bid also significantly exceeded the phone’s original retail price of around IDR 20.5 million when it was launched in Indonesia in 2018. The device, now worth approximately IDR 3 million on the second-hand market, was a seized asset from Nurwidihartana, a convict in a bribery case involving former Yogyakarta Mayor Haryadi.
Mungki Hadipraktikto, Director of Asset Tracking, Evidence Management and Execution at the KPK, stated that the auction winner has a five-day deadline, until 25 June 2026, to complete the payment. He also confirmed that all data on the iPhone XS had been erased through a factory reset process conducted in cooperation with the KPK’s Electronic Evidence Laboratory prior to the auction.
The iPhone XS, released in September 2018, features a 5.8-inch display, weighs 177 grams, and is 7.7 mm thick. It is equipped with a 7MP front camera, dual 12MP rear cameras, and an A12 Bionic chip, with internal storage options of 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB.
