Old faces dominate Governor's Cup

National players dominated the Jakarta Governor's Cup tennis tournament at the Senayan claycourts here on Friday, with Suwandi, Febi Widhiyanto, Hendri Pramono and Prima Simpati Aji all qualified for the men's singles' semifinals.
Suwandi will meet defending champion Hendri while Prima takes on Febi on Saturday.
The semifinalists stopped their respective opponents in generally easy encounters on Friday.
Suwandi and Hendri conceded six games each in their run, the former overcoming Yusmawan Fahmi 6-4, 6-2 and Hendri stopping veteran Bonit Wiryawan 6-2, 6-4.
Prima trounced Tjahjono 6-0, 6-1 while Febi blanked Sebastian da Costa in the first set before being assured of the semifinal place without continuing the game as his opponent retired due to injury, 6-0, 2-0.
The women's singles semifinals will feature veterans, as Maya Rosa is the only junior player left in contention. Three other names are Wukirasih Sawondari, Eny Sulistiowati and Irawati Moerid.
Wukirasih crushed Mima Chernovita 6-3, 6-2 and will tackle Maya Rosa, who won over Mudarwati 5-7, 7-6, 6-2.
Eny defeated Febri Joana 6-3, 6-3 to get a semifinal pairing against Irawati, a 7-5, 7-5 over Dian Aggraeni.
In the men's doubles, Peter Handoyo/Suwandi defeated Hendri Pramono/Sunu Wahyu Trijati 6-2, 6-4 to meet Febi Widhiyanto/Nesa Artha in the semifinals. Febi/Nesa demolished Armendio Anggara/Jonathan Andam 6-1, 6-1.
The other semifinal match will pit Eko Kurniawan/Prima Simpati Aji against Januar Radjab/Surya Wijaya.
The women's doubles will have its final match on Saturday with Mima Chernovita/Sandy Gumulya taking on Irawati Moerid/Wukirasih.
