The Jakarta Provincial Environmental Agency (DLH) has confirmed an incident involving the collapse of a building pillar during the demolition of an old office building in the Cililitan area, East Jakarta, on Sunday (7/6/2026). The event resulted in one firefighter being rushed to the hospital after building materials struck their operational vehicle.

The Public Relations Officer for the Jakarta DLH, Yogi Ikhwan, explained that the incident took place on Jalan Mandala V, Cililitan, Kramat Jati. At the time, the DLH was conducting the demolition of an unused old building. To minimise dust pollution in the densely populated area, the DLH had coordinated with the Cililitan Sub-district Fire Brigade Task Force to perform water spraying operations.

“However, during the demolition process, one of the building’s column pillars collapsed and struck the Fire Brigade’s operational vehicle which was stationed near the activity area,” Yogi stated in an official briefing.

When the concrete pillar fell and struck the vehicle belonging to the Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat), two officers were on standby inside the cabin. One officer sustained a direct impact from the building material and was immediately evacuated to the Polri Kramat Jati Hospital.

Yogi confirmed that the officer’s condition is currently stable following intensive medical treatment.

“Based on the medical team’s examination, including CT scan results, the officer’s condition is stable. In accordance with medical procedures, the individual remains under observation for 24 hours to ensure their health remains good,” he explained.

Following the incident, the Jakarta DLH expressed deep appreciation to the fire brigade personnel who were actively assisting in environmental impact control during the project. Yogi emphasised that safety aspects will continue to be evaluated to prevent similar occurrences.

“The safety of personnel is our top priority in every field activity. We continue to coordinate with all relevant parties to ensure that handling processes proceed smoothly and that the officer’s condition recovers quickly,” concluded Yogi.
