Old Buddhist temple restored
JAKARTA (JP): A Buddhist temple believed to be more than 300
years old, located on Jl. Pasar Baru in Tangerang, 20 kilometers
west of here, will be totally refurbished.
The refurbishment will cost about Rp 200,000 million, Trisno
Budiyanto, chairman of Yayasan Vihara Nimalla (Foundation for
Holy Temples), told Antara yesterday.
He said the refurbishment work will be carried out in stages,
with the first stage starting in the front yard of the temple.
Trisno said priority was given to the front yard because it
was deemed necessary following the demolition of the fences and
front gates of the temple by the authorities. The fences and
gates of the temple were pulled down to make way for a road
widening project last year. (bas)
