Ojol Drivers Reveal Daily Earnings After School Holidays End

Online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers have revealed that their daily earnings have not significantly changed following the end of the school holidays and the start of the new academic year. A number of drivers interviewed in Jakarta stated that their net daily income remains around Rp100,000 to Rp200,000, a figure they described as stagnant compared to previous periods. “It’s the same as before. Net earnings are still around Rp100,000 to Rp200,000, depending on orders. Children returning to school hasn’t had much of an impact,” one driver said. The only slight change noted was the removal of additional fees for drivers taking orders on budget services, where they previously faced deductions of up to Rp20,000 for completing more than 10 trips. Facing uncertain income, most drivers expressed resignation and hope that order volumes will eventually increase to lift their daily earnings.
