The Financial Services Authority (OJK) states that it continuously monitors all Online Lending Providers (Pindar), including the use of third-party services in operational activities, particularly debt collection. This is in response to a violation case in the debt collection process by Indosaku’s debt collectors.

OJK’s Executive Head for the Supervision of Financing Institutions, Venture Capital Companies, Microfinance Institutions, and Other Financial Services Institutions, Agusman, stated that Pindar providers are encouraged to ensure that cooperation with third parties is carried out in accordance with regulations, has adequate control mechanisms, and is evaluated periodically. He then emphasised that violations will be followed up if found.

“Supervision follow-up is carried out comprehensively across all providers. If violations are found, they will be addressed in accordance with applicable regulations,” said Agusman in his statement on Thursday (7/5/2026).

He mentioned that debt collection provisions are regulated in POJK Number 22 of 2023 on Consumer and Public Protection in the Financial Services Sector. The implementation of these provisions will continue to be monitored to ensure consistent operation, including in the Pindar industry.

“All Pindar Providers are urged to ensure that the third-party services used comply with all applicable regulations and are responsible for all debt collection activities carried out,” Agusman stated.

Previously, rogue debt collectors in Semarang gained attention for making a fake fire department call to a debtor’s location. This was done as an attempt to terrorise the debtor.
