The Financial Services Authority (OJK) in Tasikmalaya has confirmed that its investigation found no additional victims or financial losses arising from the criminal case involving a paylater limit deposit service scheme in East Priangan, West Java.

“There has been no further development, so as of now the perpetrator has already been arrested,” said Head of OJK Tasikmalaya, Nofa Hermawati, to journalists in Tasikmalaya City, West Java, on Friday.

She explained that OJK Tasikmalaya, through the Task Force for the Eradication of Illegal Financial Activities (Satgas PASTI), together with the police, is working to protect the public and take firm action against financial sector crimes, one of which was the successful uncovering of the paylater limit deposit service scheme.

OJK Tasikmalaya, together with the Ciamis Resort Police, successfully uncovered an alleged fraud case disguised as a paylater limit deposit service that harmed residents in Ciamis Regency, Tasikmalaya City, and Tasikmalaya Regency, with total losses reaching Rp500 million, and it has been confirmed that the figure has not increased.

“So it is confirmed that there is no further development, no other cases,” she said.

She stated that OJK Tasikmalaya and the police are ready to take firm action against perpetrators and to educate the public about illegal investments, as their existence harms the community.

She revealed that victims of illegal investments are typically fully conscious of their actions, having been enticed by the promised returns on the investment offered by the perpetrators.

“Deposit limit services and illegal investments all use a Ponzi scheme,” she said.

She expressed hope that the public will become more aware of financial literacy, as well as the various risks of illegal online lending and illegal investments, and will not be easily tempted by offers of large returns.

“They assume that all such schemes have obtained proper licensing and so forth, and that is due to their lack of literacy, so it must be watched out for,” she said.

Previously, the uncovering of the paylater limit deposit service case in Ciamis began with a public complaint received by OJK Tasikmalaya regarding the alleged misuse of paylater facilities through a scheme offering deposit limit services with promises of profit, resulting in total losses of Rp500 million.

OJK Tasikmalaya, through Satgas PASTI, coordinated and exchanged information with the Ciamis Resort Police as part of the investigation process, which ultimately led to the arrest of a suspect on 23 July 2026.
