OJK Tasikmalaya and Ciamis Police Uncover Paylater Deposit Scam
The Financial Services Authority (OJK) of Tasikmalaya, through the Task Force for the Eradication of Illegal Financial Activities (Satgas PASTI), together with the Ciamis Resort Police (Polres Ciamis), has successfully uncovered an alleged criminal fraud case involving a paylater deposit scheme. This criminal activity has reportedly caused losses to residents in Ciamis Regency, Tasikmalaya Regency, and Tasikmalaya City.
The Head of OJK Tasikmalaya, Nofa Hermawati, explained that the case came to light following public complaints received by OJK Tasikmalaya. The perpetrator’s modus operandi was offering a service to deposit funds into paylater facilities with the promise of certain profits.
‘The losses resulting from this practice are estimated to have reached Rp300 million,’ said Nofa Hermawati on Thursday (6/8/2026).
Nofa expressed appreciation for the synergy between Satgas PASTI and Polres Ciamis in protecting the public from crimes in the financial sector. According to her, this collaboration is crucial for following up on public reports swiftly and effectively.
Based on the results of coordination and information exchange between the OJK and the police, officers detained a suspected perpetrator. The perpetrator is currently undergoing legal proceedings in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
The OJK urges the public to increase their vigilance against various fraud schemes that exploit financial services. Nofa stressed that the public should never provide personal data, one-time password (OTP) codes, or account access to other parties.
Members of the public who discover indications of illegal financial activities or become victims of fraud are advised to report immediately to the Indonesia Anti-Scam Centre (IASC). Meanwhile, complaints related to services from Financial Services Business Actors (PUJK) can be submitted through the Consumer Protection Portal Application (APPK).
The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of Polres Ciamis, Ajun Komisaris Carsono, added that cooperation with Satgas PASTI greatly assisted the effectiveness of the investigation. He also requested that residents who feel they are victims report to the police immediately.
‘This synergy helps the investigation process run effectively. We urge members of the public who feel they are victims to report immediately so that all facts can be thoroughly uncovered,’ concluded Carsono.
