The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has officially revoked the business licence of PT Bank Perekonomian Rakyat (BPR) Pembangunan Nagari, located at Simpang Gudang, Desa Balai Satu Manggopoh, Kecamatan Lubuk Basung, Kabupaten Agam, West Sumatra. This decision was established through OJK Board of Commissioners’ Decree Number KEP-28/D.03/2026 dated 31 March 2026. The revocation of the business licence is part of supervisory actions to strengthen the banking industry and safeguard public confidence in the financial services sector. OJK revealed that on 5 March 2025, PT BPR Pembangunan Nagari was designated as a Bank Under Rehabilitation (BDP) due to having a Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) below 12 percent. Subsequently, on 3 March 2026, the bank was designated as a Bank in Resolution (BDR) after OJK assessed that its management and shareholders were unable to undertake rehabilitation, particularly in terms of capital and liquidity, in accordance with OJK Regulation Number 28 of 2023 on the Designation of Status and Follow-up Supervision of BPR and BPRS. OJK stated that sufficient time had been given to the management and shareholders for the rehabilitation process, but they failed to improve the bank’s condition. Then, based on the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) Board of Commissioners’ Decree Number 46/ADK3/2026 dated 16 March 2026 regarding the Handling Method for Bank in Resolution PT BPR Pembangunan Nagari, LPS determined that the handling would be through liquidation and requested OJK to revoke the bank’s business licence. In response, OJK revoked the business licence of PT BPR Pembangunan Nagari in accordance with prevailing regulations. With this revocation, LPS will carry out its deposit insurance function and the liquidation process in line with Law Number 24 of 2004 on the Deposit Insurance Corporation and Law Number 4 of 2023 on the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector. OJK emphasised that public funds in banking, including BPRs, are guaranteed by LPS in accordance with applicable provisions. OJK also urged customers of PT BPR Pembangunan Nagari to remain calm, as the deposit insurance process will proceed according to established mechanisms.
