OJK Summons Mandiri Tunas Finance Regarding Alleged Customer Assault
The Head of the Financial Literacy, Inclusion, and Communication Department of the Financial Services Authority (OJK), M. Ismail Riyadi, stated that his office had summoned PT Mandiri Tunas Finance (MTF) to request clarification regarding alleged acts of violence committed by debt collectors employed by the company.
The summoning of MTF’s management, according to Ismail, is to request a complete clarification and explanation regarding the chronology of the events and the parties involved, as well as the follow-up steps that have been and will be taken by the company, he said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
After receiving the information, the OJK will examine the information provided by MTF in accordance with applicable regulations. If violations are proven, the OJK will impose strict sanctions on MTF in accordance with the regulations.
The OJK emphasized that the debt collection process by financial service institutions must be carried out in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations, uphold ethics, and prioritize consumer protection. Furthermore, the authority ensures that acts of violence in any form cannot be justified.
Furthermore, the OJK appealed to all financial service institutions to ensure that debt collection activities, including those carried out through third parties, are carried out professionally, comply with applicable regulations, and do not use intimidating or violent methods.
“The OJK will continue to monitor the development of this case and take supervisory measures in accordance with the authority it has,” said Ismail.
Previously, a short video uploaded on the Instagram platform through the account @fakta.indo went viral. The video showed a commotion between debt collectors and the victim regarding the seizure of a vehicle.
“An advocate named Bastian Sori, SH, who is an administrator of the Regional Leadership Council of the Indonesian Advocates Congress (KAI) of Banten Province, became a victim of an attack by people claiming to be debt collectors from Mandiri Tunas Finance,” the account wrote.
The account also wrote that the incident occurred at the victim’s residence in the Palem Semi Housing Complex, Karawaci, Tangerang, on Monday, February 23, 2026, which is under the jurisdiction of the South Tangerang Police. The incident began when three suspected perpetrators forced their way into the victim’s yard and attempted to seize the victim’s car.
The victim refused the seizure of the vehicle because he considered the procedures carried out by the debt collectors to be in violation of legal provisions. An argument ensued, and one of the perpetrators carried out the attack. After the incident, the perpetrators fled, while the victim was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment and care.
