The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has affirmed its commitment to strengthening the role of the financial services sector in sustainable finance programmes and the implementation of carbon economic value. This strategic move aims to support economic growth through a low-carbon transition while reinforcing Indonesia’s position in the global sustainable finance architecture.

This commitment was conveyed by the Chair of the OJK Board of Commissioners, Friderica Widyasari Dewi, during the London Climate Action Week (LCAW) 2026, held from 22 to 25 June 2026 in London, United Kingdom. OJK’s presence in the international forum is part of efforts to strengthen climate-related financial risk management and the carbon market ecosystem through global collaboration.

“OJK will continue to ensure that the sustainable finance and transition financing agenda does not stop as a policy framework, but truly becomes a credible market mechanism,” Friderica said in a statement on Tuesday (30/6).

During the Transition Finance Panel session at The Net Zero Delivery Summit, OJK emphasised that transition financing in Indonesia is directed at supporting the transformation of hard-to-abate sectors, such as energy, manufacturing, transportation, and forestry.

OJK is currently reinforcing the sustainable finance architecture through several key policies. As a member of the Carbon Economic Value Steering Committee, in accordance with Presidential Regulation Number 110 of 2025, OJK continues to oversee carbon trading on the secondary market through the IDX Carbon. To date, the Indonesia Carbon Exchange has recorded transactions of approximately two million tonnes of CO₂ equivalent, with a total value of more than Rp93 billion.

Friderica stressed that market integrity is a fundamental prerequisite. “A carbon exchange will only be trusted if the carbon units traded are measurable, recorded, traceable, and free from double counting,” she asserted.

Through collaboration with the government, investors, and international partners, OJK is optimistic that the financial services sector can serve as a catalyst for realising a greener, more resilient, and inclusive Indonesian economy, in line with the target of achieving net zero emissions by 2060 or sooner.
