OJK states financial literacy index in DIY reaches 76.44 per cent
The Head of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) for the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), Eko Yunianto, stated that the results of the 2026 National Survey of Financial Literacy and Inclusion (SNLIK) show the province’s financial literacy index has reached 76.44 per cent.
“The 2026 SNLIK results show that the financial literacy index in DIY has reached 76.44 per cent, which is higher than the national literacy index of 69.57 per cent,” said Eko during the OJK and Mass Media Gathering in Purwokerto on Thursday.
According to him, the financial inclusion index for DIY in the 2026 SNLIK results reached 98.74 per cent, far exceeding the national average of 93.61 per cent.
“This achievement demonstrates that the community not only has strong access to financial services but also possesses a relatively good understanding, although a gap of approximately 20 per cent remains,” he said.
“This means that the people using these financial products and services also understand the benefits and risks associated with the products and services they use,” he added.
He also believes that the success in achieving these financial literacy and inclusion indices in the DIY region is the result of synergy between various parties.
“This includes the contribution of the mass media, which consistently provides information, education, and constructive news regarding the financial services sector,” he said.
Therefore, he noted, collaboration and synergy between the OJK and the mass media must continue to be enhanced to provide more accurate, educational, and trustworthy information.
“In doing so, we can build public trust and encourage the realisation of a financial services sector that is inclusive, healthy, and sustainable,” he concluded.
