The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has stated that the Risk and Governance Summit (RGS) 2026 will be a forum for strengthening governance in the financial services industry to support sustainable economic growth. Chair of the OJK Audit Board, Sophia Wattimena, said RGS 2026 will bring together regulators, industry, professional associations, and stakeholders to discuss developments and best practices in the fields of governance, risk, and compliance (GRC). “When we talk about governance, we also need to look at the context and its ecosystem,” Sophia said in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday. RGS is an annual agenda of the OJK together with institutions and professional associations in the GRC field, as well as being the peak event of a series of forums on strengthening GRC and enforcing integrity in the financial services sector. This year, RGS carries the theme “Future-Ready Governance for Sustainable Growth and National Prosperity” with a focus on transparency and ethics in supporting sustainable economic growth and will be held on 14 July 2026. According to Sophia, the RGS 2026 will also present practitioners and experts from home and abroad to share experiences regarding governance developments. The discussion is expected to provide a space to observe practices and policy developments at the international level and their relevance for strengthening governance in Indonesia. “Whether we have anticipated these elements, whether we already have them or not. That is also something we learn,” she said. RGS 2026 will have two main sessions. The first session is titled “Strategic Transparency: Redefining Trust and Long-Term Organizational Value” which discusses strategic transparency, risk governance, accountability, and the role of internal audit in building trust and long-term organisational value. Meanwhile, the second session is titled “Ethics in Action: Building a Values-Driven Culture for Sustainable Performance” which will discuss ethics-based governance and building organisational culture to support sustainable performance. Sophia said the OJK will also gather views from participants through a survey or questionnaire at the end of the activity. This input, Sophia said, will then be compiled and submitted to the OJK board and associations according to the relevant financial sector. “Later we will collect input from the audience. We will compile that input and convey it to the chief executives and also the associations,” she said. She explained that input from participants can provide an overview of governance aspects that still need strengthening, both in terms of regulation and implementation. “By combining all these elements, we can later get input, for example whether there are regulations that we need to strengthen. Or if the regulation already exists, which implementation needs strengthening,” said Sophia. RGS 2026 is the culmination of a series of Road to RGS activities that take place throughout the year, including forums on strengthening the GRC function, classes on anti-fraud, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML-CTF), cyber risk, campus activities, and innovation competitions.
