OJK Revokes Licence of BPR Ceper Permata Artha in Central Java After Failed Recovery
The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has decided to revoke the business licence of PT Bank Perekonomian Rakyat (BPR) Ceper Permata Artha, located in Klaten Regency, Central Java, after the management and shareholders failed to rehabilitate the bank. This decision is stipulated in the OJK Board of Commissioners Decree Number KEPR-111/D.03/2026 dated 25 June 2026 concerning the revocation of the business licence of PT BPR Ceper Permata Artha. “The revocation of PT BPR Ceper Permata Artha’s business licence is part of the supervisory actions taken by the OJK to continuously strengthen the banking industry and maintain public trust,” said Head of OJK Solo, Mohammad Mufid, in a statement received in Jakarta on Thursday. On 18 June 2025, the OJK had placed the bank under recovery status because its capital adequacy ratio (KPMM) was below 12 percent and its soundness level was rated ‘unhealthy’. Subsequently, on 12 June 2026, the OJK placed the BPR under bank resolution status. This change in status was made considering that the OJK had given the bank’s management and shareholders sufficient time to undertake recovery efforts, particularly to address capital issues as regulated in OJK Regulation (POJK) Number 28 of 2023. The Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) then decided not to rescue PT BPR Ceper Permata Artha, based on the LPS Board of Commissioners Decree Number S-R.8/ADK3/2026 dated 17 June 2026 concerning the handling method for the bank under resolution. Consequently, the LPS requested the OJK to revoke the bank’s business licence. Following this request, the OJK, based on Article 19 of POJK 28 of 2023, proceeded with the licence revocation. With this revocation, the LPS will carry out its guarantee function and conduct the liquidation process in accordance with Law Number 24 of 2004 concerning the Deposit Insurance Corporation and Law Number 4 of 2023 concerning the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector. “The OJK urges customers of PT BPR Ceper Permata Artha to remain calm, as public funds in banks, including BPRs, are guaranteed by the LPS in accordance with applicable regulations,” said Mohammad.
