OJK Revokes Business Licence of Rural Bank Koperindo Jaya After Failed Rehabilitation Efforts
The business licence of PT Bank Perekonomian Rakyat (BPR) Koperindo Jaya, located in Petojo Utara, Central Jakarta, has been revoked by the Financial Services Authority (OJK). The decision was made after the bank’s management and shareholders proved unable to conduct the targeted financial rehabilitation.
The licence revocation is set out in OJK Commissioner Board Member Decision No. KEP-22/D.03/2026 dated 9 March 2026 concerning the revocation of PT BPR Koperindo Jaya’s business licence.
Edwin Nurhadi, OJK Head for the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, and Bekasi Region, stated that the revocation of BPR Koperindo Jaya’s business licence is part of OJK’s supervisory action to strengthen the banking industry and maintain public confidence.
“On 22 January 2025, OJK designated BPR Koperindo Jaya as a bank under supervised rehabilitation status (BDP) based on consideration of its capital adequacy ratio of negative 35.49 per cent, which fell below regulatory requirements, and its bank health rating (TKS) classified as ‘unhealthy’,” Edwin said in a statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Subsequently, on 21 January 2026, OJK placed BPR Koperindo Jaya under resolution supervision (BDR) status, having given the bank’s management and shareholders sufficient time to undertake rehabilitation efforts, including addressing capitalisation problems. This followed OJK Regulation (POJK) No. 28 of 2023, dated 29 December 2023, concerning the designation of status and supervisory follow-up for rural banks and Islamic rural banks. However, the bank’s management and shareholders were unable to rehabilitate the institution.
The Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) subsequently determined that bank resolution for BPR Koperindo Jaya would proceed through bank liquidation and requested OJK to revoke the bank’s business licence. This decision was based on Commissioner Board Member Decision of the Deposit Insurance and Bank Resolution Division No. 20/ADK3/2026 dated 3 March 2026 concerning the resolution method for PT BPR Koperindo Jaya.
In response to the LPS request, OJK revoked PT BPR Koperindo Jaya’s business licence under Article 19 of the aforementioned POJK. Following this licence revocation, LPS will perform its deposit insurance function and conduct the liquidation process in accordance with Law No. 24 of 2004 on the Deposit Insurance Corporation, as amended by Law No. 4 of 2023 on the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector.
