OJK revokes BPR Sungai Rumbai's licence following failed rehabilitation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has revoked the business licence of PT Bank Perekonomian Rakyat (BPR) Sungai Rumbai, located in Dharmasraya Regency, West Sumatra, after the management and shareholders were unable to rehabilitate the bank’s condition.
This is stipulated in OJK Commissioner Board Member’s Decision Number KEP-30/D.03/2026 dated 7 April 2026.
“The revocation of PT BPR Sungai Rumbai’s business licence is part of OJK’s supervisory actions to continue strengthening the banking industry and safeguarding public confidence,” said the Head of OJK West Sumatra Province, Roni Nazra, in a statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Previously, on 6 March 2025, OJK had designated BPR Sungai Rumbai as a Bank in Rehabilitation (BDP) due to its Minimum Capital Adequacy Ratio (KPMM) being below 12 per cent.
Subsequently, on 4 March 2026, OJK designated BPR Sungai Rumbai as a Bank in Resolution (BDR), considering that OJK had provided sufficient time to the management and shareholders to undertake rehabilitation efforts, particularly in addressing capital and liquidity problems.
This is regulated under OJK Regulation (POJK) Number 28 of 2023 on the Designation of Status and Follow-up Supervision of Rural Banks and Sharia Rural Banks.
However, the management and shareholders of PT BPR Sungai Rumbai were unable to rehabilitate the condition of the aforementioned BPR.
The Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) then determined the handling method for the BDR PT BPR Sungai Rumbai by carrying out liquidation and requesting OJK to revoke the business licence of PT BPR Sungai Rumbai.
This is based on the LPS Commissioner Board Member’s Decision Number 52/ADK3/2026 dated 26 March 2026 on the Handling Method for Bank in Resolution PT Bank Perekonomian Rakyat Sungai Rumbai.
In response to LPS’s request, OJK, based on Article 19 of POJK 28/2023, revoked the business licence of PT BPR Sungai Rumbai.
With this revocation of the business licence, LPS will carry out its guarantee function and conduct the liquidation process in accordance with Law Number 24 of 2004 on LPS and Law Number 4 of 2023 on the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector (P2SK).
“OJK urges customers of PT BPR Sungai Rumbai to remain calm as public funds in banking, including BPRs, are guaranteed by LPS in accordance with applicable provisions,” Roni concluded.
