OJK revises 2027 budget to Rp10.58 trillion following establishment of BMKS
The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has revised its 2027 work and budget plan (RKA) to Rp10.58 trillion, following the introduction of the Strategic Minerals and Commodities Exchange (BMKS).
OJK Deputy Chairman Hernawan Bekti Sasongko explained that this revision increases OJK’s planned expenditure by Rp340.20 billion from the previous figure of Rp10.24 trillion, which had been approved by Commission XI of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) on 17 June 2026.
“OJK’s expenditure budget for 2027, which was previously approved at Rp10.24 trillion, has been adjusted to Rp10.58 trillion, representing an increase of Rp340.20 billion,” Hernawan stated during a working meeting with Commission XI of the DPR RI in Jakarta on Thursday.
The budget revision is intended to align OJK’s requirements with new mandates from the Financial Sector Development and Strengthening Law (UU P2SK), specifically regarding the establishment and supervision of the BMKS.
The additional budget requirements are divided into two categories. First, Rp197.51 billion is allocated for the formation and operationalisation of the BMKS Supervision Division. This budget covers operational needs for regulation, supervision, licensing, and the development of the BMKS, including human resource requirements, the strengthening of information technology (IT) infrastructure, and the development of applications to support digital-based business processes.
Second, Rp142.69 billion is allocated for the provision of infrastructure and the strengthening of OJK’s functions. This budget is directed towards additional logistical infrastructure, the strengthening of IT infrastructure, and the enhancement of financial literacy and inclusion functions.
OJK Chairwoman Friderica Widyasari Dewi, commonly known as Kiki, stated that the 2027 RKA revision is necessary because the initial allocation approved mid-year did not account for the budgetary needs arising from the new UU P2SK mandates. The basis for this revision was further strengthened following the appointment of the Chief Executive of BMKS Supervision.
“The RKA did not yet consider the mandates from the amendments to the UU P2SK, particularly the addition of the Chief Executive of the Strategic Minerals and Commodities Exchange Supervision, along with supporting organisational organs and others,” said Kiki.
This appointment has prompted OJK to establish new organisational organs and structures and to undertake internal restructuring, including the transfer of the Internal Audit, Risk Management, and Quality Control divisions to the Strategic Policy Division.
Despite the upward revision of planned expenditure, OJK’s projected revenue for 2027 remains at Rp13.89 trillion. This revenue consists of current year revenue of Rp9.22 trillion and an accumulated balance from previous years of Rp4.67 trillion. With this revision, the projected balance to be carried forward to the following year is Rp3.30 trillion, a decrease of Rp340.20 billion from the previous projection of Rp3.64 trillion.
