OJK Reveals Results of Meeting with MSCI, Capital Market Reforms Appreciated
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Financial Services Authority revealed the results of a meeting with Morgan Stanley Capital International following the postponement of Indonesia’s stock rebalancing to May 2026. OJK’s Executive Head of Capital Market, Derivatives Finance, and Carbon Exchange Supervision, Hasan Fawzi, stated that the meeting took place last week. The discussion atmosphere was constructive and yielded a positive response. “So, praise be, last week we met directly with MSCI’s leadership. Then also with their analysts. And in that meeting, as also followed by an announcement from MSCI, it was very good, constructive, and positive,” Hasan said at the Indonesia Stock Exchange building on Monday (27/4/2026). The reforms are directed to address notes from global index providers. MSCI is one of the main references. “They conveyed acknowledgement of various progresses and achievements from the main agenda of early integrity reforms in our capital market. Of course, this is directly related to the notes and expectations from global index providers, including MSCI,” he explained. One policy that received attention was transparency in share ownership. This regulation covers ownership above 1%. OJK ensured that all these provisions were completed in March 2026. OJK also introduced the High Shareholding Concentration indicator. This indicator identifies stocks with concentrated ownership. As of early April 2026, there were nine stocks in this category. Some of those stocks are also listed in the MSCI index. OJK also expanded investor data transparency. Investor classification was expanded from nine to 39 categories. This step provides a more detailed picture of share ownership structure. More detailed classification facilitates index providers in calculating free float components.
