OJK Reveals Indonesian Online Loan Debt Reaches Rp102 Trillion, Growing 26 Per Cent in a Year
The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has revealed that the outstanding value of online loans, previously known as ‘pinjol’, in Indonesia has surpassed the Rp102.07 trillion mark as of April 2026. This surge indicates that the digital financing industry continues to record strong growth despite various efforts by regulators to strengthen governance and supervision.
According to OJK data, the outstanding financing in the online lending industry grew by 26.11 per cent year-on-year (yoy). Although this is a slight slowdown compared to the previous month’s growth of 26.25 per cent, the figure demonstrates high public demand for technology-based financing services.
Agusman, the Executive Head of Supervision for Financing Institutions, Venture Capital Companies, Microfinance Institutions, and Other Financial Service Institutions at OJK, stated that the digital financing sector remains on a positive growth trend.
OJK data shows that the total outstanding online loan financing reached Rp102.07 trillion in April 2026. This figure serves as an indicator that digital financing services remain a preferred choice for the public to meet funding needs, for both consumption and productive activities. The growth of over 26 per cent annually also suggests that the fintech lending industry still possesses significant room for expansion in Indonesia. Nevertheless, OJK remains focused on financing quality to ensure that this growth remains healthy and sustainable.
Amidst high financing growth, OJK assesses that the risk profile of the online lending industry remains relatively controlled. This is reflected in the non-performing loan rate, specifically defaults or late payments exceeding 90 days (TWP90), which was recorded at an aggregate of 4.62 per cent in April 2026. While this is a slight increase from the March 2026 level of 4.52 per cent, OJK considers the bad credit risk level to be within manageable limits for the industry. Supervision of loan quality and risk management continues to be a priority for the regulator to maintain the stability of the digital financial sector.
