OJK Responds to Prabowo's Presidential Letter to DPR on Mineral Exchange Supervisor

The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has spoken out regarding the candidate for the OJK Board of Commissioners member who will oversee the mineral and strategic commodity exchange. The OJK will add a new position of Chief Executive of Mineral and Strategic Commodity Exchange Supervision (KEBMKS).

Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners, Friderica Widyasari Dewi, stated that she has been informed by the Minister of State Secretariat that the candidate for the position has been submitted to the House of Representatives (DPR). This means President Prabowo Subianto has sent a presidential letter to the DPR.

‘I was informed by the Minister of State Secretariat yesterday that the President’s letter has been submitted to the DPR. As for the name, you should ask him,’ she said when met at Hotel Bidakara Jakarta, Tuesday (11/8/2026).

Kiki, as she is known, expressed her hope that the candidate will be able to work together with other OJK Board of Commissioners members to properly carry out the legal mandate. ‘Because this is something new and we all have very high hopes for this BMKS,’ she said.

Kiki trusts that the President’s choice will be able to fulfil the mandate well, as this is a new sector with a significant mandate implementing Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution. According to her, the existence of a Mineral and Strategic Commodity Exchange can prevent under-pricing and under-invoicing.

Furthermore, the OJK has already prepared the tasks and organisational structure, which will be followed by human resources preparation in the field. ‘So we are preparing everything while waiting for the person who will become the chief executive,’ she added.

‘We trust the President’s choice, surely the best sons and daughters of Indonesia to occupy this very important position. This is something new for our country, something new,’ she continued.

Kiki added that looking at similar exchanges in China, the potential for economic turnover in the commodity sector is very promising. ‘If we learn from China, for example, the commodity exchange there is very advanced, we learn from there. So this is not something that is just beginning, no. Other countries have already done it, so we are even more enthusiastic about how the earth, water, and the wealth contained within can be of the greatest benefit to the nation and state,’ she concluded.
