OJK Responds to Claims Prabowo's Speeches Affect IHSG Performance

The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has responded to circulating rumours regarding the link between President Prabowo Subianto’s speeches and the performance of the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI). The OJK Executive Head of Capital Market, Derivatives, and Carbon Exchange Supervision, Hasan Fawzi, declined to comment directly on the speculation. However, he reminded investors to remain rational when making decisions.

According to Hasan, amidst dynamic market conditions, many aspects influence stock price movements. “But ultimately, please observe that behind the four-letter name of every stock, there are operational activities and business activities of the company,” he told the media at the Indonesia Stock Exchange on Tuesday, 30 June 2026.

Hasan explained that every company listed on the exchange publishes financial statements and corporate actions through information disclosure. He noted that through these disclosures, investors can assess the operational performance and the value of a company’s shares.

Furthermore, Hasan advised investors not to rely solely on social media content. He also mentioned that there are content creators who educate the public by providing fundamental analysis, technical analysis, and in-depth reviews of financial reports.

“I believe those are better references than things that are irrational or have no direct connection to stocks that are conducting normal operational activities over time,” he said.

The connection between Prabowo’s speeches and JCI performance has become a topic of intense discussion after a schedule of the President’s speeches for July 2026 circulated online. According to a schedule uploaded by the Instagram account @stockalpha.id, Prabowo is planned to deliver 13 speeches during this month.

The Executive Director of the Centre of Economic and Law Studies (Celios), Bhima Yudhistira, assessed that the content of Prabowo’s speeches also influences market confidence. In his view, policy changes following Prabowo’s speeches make it difficult for investors to calculate risks.

In the long term, Bhima noted, this could erode confidence in the government’s credibility in managing the economy. “If policies change simply because of Prabowo’s speeches, it creates uncertainty and expensive business costs,” he said on Monday, 29 June 2026.
