OJK Records Crypto Transaction Value Rise to Rp 23.01 Trillion in May 2026
The value of crypto asset transactions reached Rp 23.01 trillion in May 2026, according to the Financial Services Authority (OJK). The regulator recorded a 0.11 per cent month-to-month increase compared to Rp 22.99 trillion in April 2026. Adi Budiarso, Chief Executive of the OJK’s Supervision of Financial Sector Technology Innovation, Digital Financial Assets, and Crypto Assets, stated that public trust in the digital financial asset ecosystem, including crypto assets, remains well maintained amid transaction value fluctuations. The number of digital financial asset consumer or investor accounts also continued to rise, reaching 22.4 million accounts in May 2026, a growth of 3.17 per cent from 21.71 million consumers in April 2026. Meanwhile, the transaction value of digital financial asset derivatives during May 2026 was recorded at Rp 5.69 trillion, an increase of 11.67 per cent from Rp 5.10 trillion in the previous month. Industry development is also reflected in the growing number of instruments traded through two crypto exchanges, PT Central Finansial X (CFX) and PT Fortuna Integritas Mandiri (ICEX), which each manage a Digital Financial Asset List (DAKD). As of May 2026, 1,265 digital financial assets and 40 digital financial asset derivatives were listed on the CFX DAKD, while the ICEX DAKD had 788 tradable digital financial assets. OJK has granted licences to 32 entities within the crypto asset trading ecosystem, comprising two crypto exchanges, two clearing and settlement guarantee institutions, two custodian managers, and 26 digital financial asset traders. Additionally, OJK has approved seven supporting institutions, all of which are payment service providers. The regulator is currently evaluating business licence and/or approval applications from prospective crypto asset trading operators, including one exchange, one clearing institution, one custodian, and two prospective digital financial asset traders. As part of its supervisory and consumer protection efforts, during June 2026 OJK imposed administrative sanctions on one financial sector technology innovation (ITSK) provider and four digital financial asset and crypto asset (AKD-AK) providers for regulatory violations. The sanctions consisted of three written warnings and two administrative fines.
