JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Financial Services Authority (OJK) records that the number of cryptocurrency asset users in Indonesia reached 21.37 million as of March 2026. This figure grew by 1.43 percent on a monthly basis.

Based on OJK data, the value of spot crypto transactions was recorded at Rp 22.24 trillion. Meanwhile, derivative transactions increased by 14.26 percent to Rp 5.80 trillion.

Amid this growth, the INDODAX cryptocurrency investment platform has recorded a significant contribution.

INDODAX CEO William Sutanto views the increase in the number of users and transactions as reflecting growing public trust in Indonesia’s regulated cryptocurrency ecosystem.

“We see this OJK data as a positive signal for the development of the national crypto industry. The growth in the number of users and transactions shows that public trust in regulated cryptocurrency assets continues to rise,” said William in an official statement on Thursday (7/5/2026).

“On the other hand, this also becomes a responsibility for us as Indonesia’s largest crypto exchange to continue strengthening platform security, improving service quality, and expanding education for users,” he added.

This condition is still considered reasonable amid global market dynamics influenced by various external factors.

Some of these include global interest rate policies, US inflation data, and international geopolitical tensions.

Nevertheless, domestic digital asset trading activity is assessed to show a fairly healthy trend.

The stability of participation from both retail and institutional investors also reflects that public interest in digital assets, including crypto, remains maintained amid global market dynamics.

William assesses that this condition shows that crypto investors in Indonesia are beginning to mature in responding to market volatility.

“Volatility is an inseparable part of the cryptocurrency asset market, especially amid global dynamics such as interest rate policies, market liquidity conditions, and ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. However, what is interesting is that transaction activity and investor interest in Indonesia remain relatively stable,” explained William.
