OJK Receives 4 Packages of BEI Director Candidates, Total 28 Names Enter the Selection
The selection process for the new leadership of Indonesia’s capital market has commenced. The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has officially received four packages of proposed directors for PT Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) for the 2026–2030 period after the registration period closed on 4 May 2026. Each submitted package contains seven director candidates. Thus, a total of 28 names are now on the radar of the capital market regulator. The Executive Head of OJK’s Capital Market, Derivative Finance, and Carbon Exchange Supervision, Hasan Fawzi, explained that all these names are still in the initial verification stage. “The number of director candidates mentioned is, of course, because we received four packages with the composition of seven exchange directors, so there are 28 BEI director candidates registered with OJK,” Hasan Fawzi stated during the online press conference of the April 2026 Monthly Commissioners’ Meeting (RDKB) in Jakarta on Tuesday, 5 May 2026. Currently, OJK is conducting checks on the completeness of administrative documents and background investigations for all candidates. This process is the initial stage before proceeding to the fitness and propriety test (fit and proper test). Hasan added that the profiles of the candidates show a diverse combination of experiences, both from the capital market industry and other relevant sectors. “In general, we can say that the profiles of the candidates or nominees who entered reflect a combination of actors with strong experience in the capital market industry, of course, and there are also candidates from professionals in other relevant sectors, including the financial sector and information technology,” Hasan said. The submission of BEI director candidate packages follows OJK Regulation (POJK) No. 58 of 2016. Under this regulation, director candidates are submitted in package form by groups of BEI shareholders. Each candidate must also meet strict standards, including integrity, competence, and a good financial track record. After the administrative stage, candidates will undergo ability and propriety tests organised by a special committee formed by OJK. “Of course, the entire selection mechanism is designed to ensure that all candidates have adequate capacity to later carry out the management functions of the Stock Exchange’s activities in a professional, independent, and integrity-driven manner,” Hasan stated.
