OJK Receives 343 Consultations from Prospective Regulatory Sandbox Participants
The Financial Services Authority (OJK) reported it has received 343 consultation requests from prospective regulatory sandbox participants since the issuance of its regulation up to 31 July 2026. Chief Executive of the Financial Sector Technology Innovation, Digital Financial Assets and Crypto Assets Supervisor at OJK, Adi Budiarso, stated during a press conference following the OJK Board of Commissioners Monthly Meeting in Jakarta on Tuesday that the consultations were conducted by prospective participants seeking information and understanding regarding the process and requirements to join the OJK regulatory sandbox. In addition to receiving consultation requests, OJK has received 35 applications to become regulatory sandbox participants. Currently, there are two participants undergoing the trial process. “Currently there are two sandbox participants, consisting of one organiser with a digital financial asset and crypto asset business model, and one market supporter currently undergoing the trial process,” Adi said. Business models that have been declared to have passed include gold tokenisation, securities tokenisation with a Fund Management Contract scheme, property ownership benefit tokenisation, rupiah stablecoin issuance, and Non-Trading Digital Financial Asset Custodians. Furthermore, OJK declared one business model had graduated from the regulatory sandbox, namely PT Dana Kripto Indonesia with a Crypto Fund Manager business model on 17 July 2026. Adi further conveyed that the authority is currently evaluating five applications to become regulatory sandbox participants, consisting of two Digital Financial Asset including Crypto Asset business models and three market supporter business models.
