OJK Ready to Develop Indonesia's Carbon Trading Support System
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chair of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Board of Commissioners Friderica Widyasari Dewi stated that the financial services supervisory body she leads is ready to develop a support system for carbon trading in Indonesia. “Currently, we are also developing a system that will support as a carbon unit registry system together with the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI),” said Friderica during a press conference held at the Dr Soedjarwo Auditorium, Manggala Wanabakti Building, Ministry of Forestry (Kemenhut) RI, Jakarta, on Wednesday. Furthermore, the woman familiarly known as Kiki said that this step is one form of OJK’s support as a member of the Carbon Economic Value (NEK) Steering Committee towards Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 110 of 2025 on the Implementation of Carbon Economic Value Instruments and National Greenhouse Gas Emission Control. This support, she continued, is also provided by OJK following the Forestry Minister Regulation No. 6 of 2026 on Procedures for Carbon Trading through Greenhouse Gas Emission Offsets in the Forestry Sector, which was promulgated on 13 April 2026. “We congratulate the major step taken by the Ministry of Forestry, and we at OJK strongly support the President’s programme (Prabowo Subianto) through the President’s Special Envoy, Mr Hashim (Djojohadikusumo), and we have coordinated very well,” said Kiki. In addition, she stated that her authority will also make adjustments to OJK Regulation (POJK) No. 14 of 2023 on Carbon Trading through the Carbon Exchange in Indonesia. The said POJK is a follow-up to Law No. 4 of 2023 on the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector (UU P2SK) to control greenhouse gas emissions and develop the domestic carbon market. “We will also adjust OJK Regulation No. 14, which we will revise and, God willing, everything will be completed in June this year. So that is our form of support for the President’s programme,” said Kiki.
