OJK Prepares New RBB Rules, Banks Encouraged to Finance Government Priority Programmes
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) will issue new regulations on Bank Business Plans (RBB) in the third quarter of 2026 to encourage the banking sector to channel credit to government priority programmes. OJK Commissioner Chair Friderica Widyasari Dewi assessed that this policy can be utilised as a business opportunity for banks to increase credit disbursement. “For example, the people’s housing programme, which can indeed be utilised by banks in channelling credit,” she stated during the KSSK press conference at Menara Radius Prawiro, Jakarta, on Thursday (7/5/2026). As managers of public deposits, banks must still apply good risk management and governance in every credit disbursement. “This is not mandatory. Banks still have the freedom to implement their credit disbursement strategies according to each bank’s risk appetite and risk tolerance,” she emphasised. To encourage the implementation of credit provision to government programmes to run well, OJK is currently drafting new RBB-related regulations. “The revision of the RBB regulations is planned to be issued later by the Head of the Banking Supervisory Executive. This will be discussed further. But it is planned to be released in the third quarter of this year,” she explained.
