The peer-to-peer (P2P) lending industry has an increasingly important position in providing alternative funding for MSMEs.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) recorded that financing disbursed by the online lending industry (P2P lending/fintech lending) to the MSME sector continued to increase, with growth of 23.25 percent year-on-year (yoy) to Rp35.12 trillion as of June 2026.

This amount is approximately 33.41 percent of total P2P lending, which in June 2026 was recorded at Rp105.14 trillion with an aggregate non-performing loan rate (TWP90) of 4.26 percent.

“The P2P lending industry has an increasingly important position in providing alternative funding for MSMEs,” said Agusman, Chief Executive of OJK’s Supervision of Financing Institutions, Venture Capital Companies, Microfinance Institutions and Other Financial Services Institutions (PVML), at the Fintech Lending Days event, according to an official statement received in Jakarta on Friday.

Agusman said that support for MSME financing by the P2P lending industry is in line with OJK’s policy to encourage this industry as a means of providing broader and higher-quality access to financing and delivering real benefits to the public.

A similar view was expressed by Mukhamad Misbakhun, Chairman of Commission XI of the House of Representatives, who attended the event. According to him, the P2P lending industry has made an extraordinary contribution to MSME financing and is in line with government programmes.

“P2P lending has an extraordinary contribution to MSME financing. For this reason, this industry must be given sufficient room to continue growing in terms of regulation, legal foundation, and a supportive ecosystem,” said Misbakhun.

According to him, this contribution to the MSME sector is in line with government programmes that provide substantial support to MSMEs, so the current situation is a momentum for the P2P lending industry to further support MSME financing.

Meanwhile, Entjik S. Djafar, Chairman of the Indonesian Fintech Lending Association (AFPI), said the P2P lending industry’s focus, in addition to growing aggressively, must also be to grow healthily, responsibly and sustainably.

“The future of this industry requires closer collaboration from stakeholders such as the government, investors, banking, supporting ecosystems, and various other stakeholders,” said Entjik.
